The Buti bag is a container of history. A condensation of manual skills and artisan knowledge that have almost been lost.
We at Buti have taken care of these secrets and the techniques that make them live objects, constantly updating ourselves and making research a fundamental activity.
What makes our way of working current is that we do not simply make a bag but we encourage the synergy between the figure of the Master Craftsman and the young apprentices, so that they create extraordinary objects, which condense the value of this sharing of knowledge.
The most experienced craftsmen teach young people the secrets of the trade and the apprentices in turn bring new energy, lymph and stimuli into the laboratory.
Each master craftsman with his apprentices takes care of the realization of a specific product: this specialization, which is expressed right from the sampling, can only result in a unique creation, respecting the tradition of made in Italy.
We never wanted to outsource any of the steps that we consider fundamental, everything was born in Buti: from design, to sampling up to the production process. It may have been 60 years, but the values we have and everything we believe in have remained unchanged over time.
This is how we make each of our products unique. When we say that ours is not just a bag, we mean that it is an object on which, day after day, we pour out time, resources, quality, history, tradition and the work of our hands.
With the aim of rediscovering, enhancing and passing on to future generations these important craftsmanship in Buti, we have embarked on a real training course for young apprentices which includes both internal training and external specialization courses in leather goods schools.
Thanks to the possibility of being in contact with highly experienced leather craftsmen, the apprentices integrate new knowledge and historical processing which they will then be able to pass on.
Leathers such as calfskin and nappa are the most significant raw material in production.
This is why we pay particular attention to the choice of suppliers, using only the national and certified supply chain.
The deep knowledge and experience in the tannery sector allows Buti to select the finest leathers to guarantee each bag a beauty that remains unchanged over time. It is said that a good leather demonstrates its quality over the years, this principle guides us in the careful selection of each material.
In compliance with the rules established by the Washington Convention for the protection of endangered species, Buti also uses top quality exotic leathers.
The exclusivity of leathers such as python, ostrich and alligator requires maniacal attention in the processing that is done, from cutting to sewing, strictly by hand by skilled craftsmen.
To ensure the final customer an exclusive item, such as the material from which it is made, the production of bags with exotic leathers is followed by only one person from the beginning to the end of the process with very long times and obsessive attention to detail
We are obsessed with details. The bamboo used for the handles of the bags is subjected to a specific processing. The material collaborates with us, we consider it a living element, to be respected and known in a profound and conscious way. We do not simply bend bamboo, rather we appreciate its technical qualities and follow its inclinations, just as if it were one of us.
